QTV Channel 11 joins the league of free-TV channels as it goes full blast. QTV-11, GMA Network’s sister station, airs a colorful lineup geared mostly towards women and women’s concerns. The carefully produced shows are angled to coincide with women’s daily routines and will contain programming that highlight what is most important to women nationwide.
“[The channel is called] Quality TV or QTV because we believe that the programs we produce and select for it are all quality and wholesome programs. [This is] consistent with our ‘Serbisyong Totoo’ tagline,” GMA Chairman/President/CEO Felipe L. Gozon said during the channel’s launch last October 25 at Plaza Ibarra in Quezon City.
Among these shows are Pusong Wagi hosted by Miss Tessie Tomas. The program showcases real life acts of kindness by ordinary people. These Samaritans act out of the goodness of their own hearts and go out of their way to help those in need with no regard for acknowledgement or reward. This feel-good show also aims to inspire viewers to become Pusong Wagi themselves.
On the lighter end of the spectrum is O, Mare Ko, which highlights everyday Pinay lives. The Philippines’ most respected dramatic actresses try their hands at comedy. Sandy Andolong is a separated mother of two, Gina Alajar is a happy-go-lucky old maid, Amy Austria plays a not-so-smart OFW and Miss Lorna Tolentino is a happily married woman with a sharp mind for business.
Liga ng Kababaihan is a one-of-a-kind magazine show that addresses the many aspects of being a woman: at home, at work and at play.
In fact QTV aims to understand women in a way no other channel does by addressing all the different facets of womanhood.
There are shows tailored for mothers and homemakers such as talk/magazine program Moms hosted by celebrity mommies Lani Mercado and Sherilyn Reyes. Together, they tackle unique mommy experiences as well as give practical tips on motherhood. Ginang Fashionista, headed by none other than Miss Melanie Marquez, taps into the fashion diva in all women to prove that being fashionable is not limited to teens and young things.
But even teens get their turn in the spotlight on QTV. Young girls nationwide can tune into Fans Kita, the ultimate fan show that gives you a sneak peek into the lives of your favorite celebrities and Candies, a teen magazine show hosted by second-generation celebrities. Alynna Asistio, Inah Estrada and Wynwin Marquez will show you the hottest teen trends and touch on the aspirations and concerns of the youth.
Ka-Toque (Lutong Barkada) is a cooking show for everyone who loves to whip up a good meal for their loved ones. Two teams of famous chefs barge into celebrity homes and come up with interesting meals using only the ingredients they find in the kitchen.
If Ka-Toque feeds your body, let May Trabaho Ka feed your mind with its helpful advice on how to land a job. Every hour, Paolo Abrera and Mariz Umali lead applicants through a series of on-the-job challenges posed by a potential employer. Assisted by a panel of judges, the employer picks the most qualified applicant and gives them a job.
And these are only a small sample of the truly unique programs that QTV has lined up. The Filipino viewing experience has never been richer and emotionally rewarding.
